Lecture: »Ihre Geister stören mich nicht« Zum Umgang mit Synagogen im Westen und Norden Polens nach 1945; March 25, 2025; Deutsch-Polnisches Haus, Berlin
Neele Menter, Zuzanna Światowy und Christhardt Henschel untersuchen anhand von ehemaligen Synagogen, welche politischen Vorgaben nach 1945 den Umgang mit dem jüdischen Kulturerbe in den genannten Gebieten bestimmten. Neben politischen Zäsuren, transnationalen Verflechtungen und innerpolnischen Debatten zeigen sie auch auf, welche Funktionen die Beschäftigung mit der jüdischen Vergangenheit für unterschiedliche Handelnde einnimmt.

Das Salomon Ludwig Steinheim-Institut für deutsch-jüdische Geschichte an der Universität Duisburg-Essen (Projekt „Soziale Verantwortung im Judentum in Deutschland: Traditionen und Orte als Jewish Heritage?“) veranstaltet in Kooperation mit der Begegnungsstätte Alte Synagoge Wuppertal eine Fachtagung zur Entwicklung jüdischer Wohlfahrtspflege in der Region. Sie fragt nach dem sozialen Erbe jüdischer Akteur:innen und ihrer einstigen Wirkungsorte.
Announcement: “Jewish Textual Architectures”- New online anthology published
The Institute for the History of the German Jews (IGdJ) and the Bet Tfila – Research Unit for Jewish Architecture at the TU Braunschweig have jointly published the online anthology “Jewish Textual Architectures | Jewish Spaces, Places, and Architectures in Literature.”
Student Workshop: Exploring local Jewish heritage in the Polish-German context. History and concepts for Jewish sites in Ziębice/Münsterberg, 07.-16.03.20251
In March 2025, a student workshop focusing on the documentation and future handling of the former synagogue and Jewish cemetery in Ziębice, Lower Silesia, will be held. This on-site seminar will also include visits to Wrocław and Warsaw, including museum visits, lectures and discussions, to provide a broader contextual framework.
