Jewish Cultural Heritage in Light of Critical Heritage Studies
Internationale Konferenz „Jewish Cultural Heritage in Light of Critical Heritage Studies“ des DFG-Schwerpunktprogramms „Jüdisches Kulturerbe“ (SPP 2357)
Die Definitionen dessen, was jüdisches Kulturerbe ist oder sein soll, welche Bedeutung es für die verschiedenen Akteure hat und wie es als soziale, kulturelle, religiöse, wirtschaftliche und politische Ressource genutzt wird, sind gesellschaftlichen und politischen Veränderungen unterworfen. Die Konferenz widmet sich den verschiedenen materiellen und immateriellen Erscheinungsformen des jüdischen Kulturerbes, die aus der Perspektive der Critical Heritage Studies diskutiert werden sollen. Die Critical Heritage Studies beschäftigen sich mit der Neukonzeption des kulturellen Erbes, indem sie Themen wie Macht, Identität, wirtschaftliche Entwicklung und Konflikte kritisch in den Blick nehmen. Darüber hinaus geht es darum, kulturelles Erbe in der Gegenwart und nicht in der Vergangenheit zu verorten, da die Menschen in der Gegenwart die Verantwortung für die Bewahrung des jüdischen Erbes übernehmen; in der Gegenwart interpretieren verschiedene Gruppen von Akteuren die Bedeutung des jüdischen Erbes und verbinden es mit bestimmten Bedeutungen, Werten und sogar Identitäten. Das jüdische Erbe ist somit sowohl ein Kulturgut als auch ein soziales und politisches Instrument zur (Neu-)Definition von jüdischer Kultur, Judentum und Jüdischkeit.
Ziele der Konferenz
Die Konferenz möchte ein tieferes Verständnis für die Feinheiten des jüdischen Kulturerbes schaffen und neue Wege für die akademische Forschung und die Kulturpolitik im Lichte der Critical Heritage Studies aufzeigen. Dabei sollen die vorherrschenden Narrative in Frage gestellt und der Diskurs und Horizont des jüdischen Kulturerbes in einer schnelllebigen und sich fast täglich verändernden Welt erweitert werden.
